Danielle Freburg-Hoffmeister, D.D.S., M.D., has been appointed associate chair of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD), effective April 10, 2026.

The appointment was announced by Dean A. Isabel Garcia, D.D.S., M.P.H., who cited Freburg-Hoffmeister's track record as an educator, clinician, and program leader as central to the decision.

"Throughout her time at UFCD — first as a resident and now as faculty — Dr. Freburg-Hoffmeister has distinguished herself as an outstanding educator, a compassionate and highly skilled clinician, and a natural leader within the OMFS program," Dean Garcia said. In her new role, Freburg-Hoffmeister will work alongside department chair Dr. Frank Dolwick to advance the department's missions in education, research, and patient care.

Freburg-Hoffmeister completed her dental degree at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry before earning her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2014. She joined UFCD's OMFS residency program that same year, completing training in 2017, and transitioned to a faculty role — first as visiting clinical assistant professor, then as clinical assistant professor. She was promoted to clinical associate professor in July 2024.

Her national credentialing profile has grown significantly in recent years. In April 2025, she was selected as one of five UFCD faculty members to serve as site visitors for the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). More recently, she was invited to serve as an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery's 2027 oral certifying exam. She has also contributed as an exam writer for the board's written examinations and resident in-service exams for the past two years.

Dean Garcia noted the timing of the appointment coincides with a significant departmental milestone. "I am confident she will play a key part in the continued growth and excellence of our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department. Notably, the department will celebrate its 50th Anniversary this summer — more exciting news to come."
